Overcoming Imposter Syndrome

Impostor Syndrome is a FEELING of inadequacy, self-doubt, and a persistent fear of being exposed as a fraud. This syndrome is common among high-achieving women in business who feel like they don't deserve their success. In reality, impostor syndrome is just a feeling, not a reality, and it can be overcome.

It can manifest in different ways. For instance, you may feel like you're not qualified enough for the job, despite having the necessary experience and qualifications. Alternatively, you may feel like you're not good enough to be a leader or start your own business. This can lead to self-sabotage, overworking, and feelings of burnout.

So how can you overcome impostor syndrome?

Here are some practical tips I believe will help you build your confidence and overcome feelings of self-doubt:

Recognise Your Accomplishments

It's essential to recognise and celebrate your accomplishments, no matter how small they may seem. Make a list of your achievements, and remind yourself of them when impostor syndrome creeps in.

Reframe Negative Thoughts

Instead of focusing on your shortcomings, reframe your negative thoughts by focusing on your strengths. Write down your positive qualities and skills, and read them to yourself whenever you feel self-doubt.

Speak with a Mentor or Coach

Speaking with a mentor or coach can be incredibly helpful in overcoming impostor syndrome. They can provide you with guidance, support, and a fresh perspective on your situation.

Take Action

Sometimes, the best way to overcome impostor syndrome is to take action. Set achievable goals, take small steps towards your goals, and focus on your progress, not your shortcomings.

Embrace Vulnerability

Finally, embrace vulnerability. It's okay to ask for help, admit when you don't know something, and share your struggles with others. Vulnerability can be a powerful tool in building relationships and connecting with others.

Overcoming impostor syndrome is possible. In fact it is KEY to your success as a businesswoman. Through intentionality, determination & the right support system - you can build your confidence and overcome feelings of self-doubt.

Remember, you are worthy of success, and you deserve to be where you are.

In Love, Prieska
