10 Things To Leave In 2022

ree

Happy New Year! I cannot believe that we are at the start of another year already. How fast time flies & what a sobering reminder to value it and make good use of it.

With so much expectation and hope hanging in the air for what is to come all of our ways I felt it prudent to remind us all not to carry over any excess luggage from the previous year. If you knew you didn't have to carry the majority of the bags you were carrying on your way to an important destination - would you still carry them? In fact, imagine if the bags were never meant to belong to you in the first place and worked to slow you down significantly by being on your person - would you still carry them? I don't think I know anyone who willingly would. That is how I want you to view the things you should leave in 2022: Excess baggage that is a hinderance more than it is a blessing!

I believe that we are all striving for some level of success and greatness no matter what sector and sphere of influence we find ourselves in. I know you are because you have chosen to read this blog post and that speaks to the person of greatness that you are who is willing to put in the work it takes to rise. However, there is nothing great that doesn't begin with self.

Who are you on the inside? Who are you in secret? What are your personal habits first to yourself and then towards other people? Would you be proud if they were broadcasted and publicised for all to see? Are you consistent? Are you diligent? Do you have boundaries? What changes do you need to make?

Self-reflection is actually one of your greatest weapons as an individual looking to grow. It is not an attack. And I invite you to grab a notebook and pen, make yourself a warm or cold drink and honestly reflect on the 10 points below. How far true is each one for you? In what respect is it true? Why? How can you bring about lasting change? And so here goes, 10 things to leave in 2022:

  1. Stopping & starting based on what they think instead of the passion that burns within you...

  2. Sacrificing your mental health for the sake of acceptance and approval...

  3. Over explaining yourself and being afraid to say NO...

  4. Neglecting your physical health in terms of exercise, diet and sleep...

  5. Laziness, Ingratitude and Irresponsibility...

  6. Comparison to others...

  7. Living outside of your financial means...

  8. Avoiding difficult conversations...

  9. Being too critical and hard on yourself...

  10. Friends who take, take, take and yup you guessed it TAKE without ever giving...

Until next time...
